Car auctions are venues wherein mostly (but not all) previously owned vehicles are sold using an auction system. While most nations have local
auto auctions in different locations, most people often remain unaware of them. This is mainly due to the fact that auto auctions are a protected source for car dealers, and are closed to the general public. Thus, most of them are private auctions, although there are some that in varying degrees are open to the public.
The development of cars is a long and detailed process, involving various contributions from many inventors and manufacturers. One of them, the renowned car manufacturer Henry Ford, was born July 30, 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan. Beginning at an early age, the young Ford studied and tinkered with various machines with much enjoyment. His responsibilities in the family farm and his job at a machine in Detroit allowed him to experiment at considerable lengths. He was employed as a part-time employee by the Westinghouse Engine Company afterward, and he had constructed his first horseless carriage by 1896. Ford sold it in order to finance continuing work on an upgraded model.
Karl Friedrich Benz was a German engine and automobile engineer. He is generally regarded as the inventor of the gasoline-powered automobile. He is also recognized as pioneering founder of Mercedes-Benz. Other German inventors, namely Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach (who were then working as partners) worked on similar designs, without any direct awareness of Benz’s work. However, Benz was first granted a patent for his work. He went on to have all processes that provide for the internal combustion engine in automobiles patented as well. Benz received a patent for his first engine in 1879, which he came up with in 1878.
Since auto auctions sell previously owned cars, interested parties need to gather information first in order to make the best possible purchase. A potential buyer needs to know the details of the car’s make, model, physical condition, and many other things, in order to decide which car would best fit his needs. Some auto auctions do not provide pre-sale vehicle inspection or test-driving. Mechanics and guests are prohibited to view and test the vehicles until after the sale is completed. However, Alameda County Auctions provides previews for their vehicles on sale. They offer a wide range of quality pre-owned vehicles, some of which are luxury cars, and many of which are still under warranty.
